New Work at Earthwood Gallery in Estes Park

Thanks to Ron and Ann Wilcocks at Earthwood Gallery in Estes Park for hosting a Friday night opening on August 3rd for my self and another Colorado painter, Margaret Jensen.
I make a regular pilgrimage to Estes Park every August with new work, curated specifically for that gallery.
Margaret and I have both shown work in Estes Park for over 10 years and it is always fun to open wine,  put out the cheese cubes and mix it up with gallery visitors & buyers, old friends and other local painters - at an opening that specifically celebrates our work.

See the entire show at Earthwood Collections Gallery at 141 E. Elkhorn Ave. in Estes Park, Colorado.

Western Light Show, Estes Park

August in Estes Park is almost always a little magical. Above Sue McCullough paints below me, just off Trail Ridge road looking down into the Endo Valley area of Rocky Mountain National Park.
Our week wrapped up with the Western Light Invitational show hosted by Earthwood Collections Gallery in Estes Park. This show is attended by artists from all over the west, including Maggie Renner Hellman, Cindy Carrillo, Susan McCullough, David Montgomery, Margaret Jensen, Lou Renner, James Whartman, Terri Sanchez, Jessica Wicken, Dawn Normali, Stanislav Sidorov and Yelena Sidorov - to name a few.
My piece "Stars Over the Sangres" sold at the show opening night. The lower piece shown here is a studio version, 24"x 18"- of the plein air piece featured in the post below- that went to the PAAC show this year.  This version entitled "Moraine Park" won the ARTIST's Choice award at the Western Light Exhibition and has since
SOLD.
Thanks everyone.
I have to say, there are few paintout/shows that I enjoy more than this one and it is mainly because Ron and Ann Wilcocks, owners of Earthwood Galleries have gathered together a stable of artists that are great people and really enjoy each other.

'12 Western Light Show, Estes Park, CO

August has just flown. I was in Nebraska last week, Frasier Colorado before that, Westcliffe Colorado before that and painting out morning and evenings with my class all of July and August. It never feels like enough, tho'. All the places, all the paintings that get stacked in the studio for future fiddling - sometime between gigs. . .
Speaking of,
Sunday, Sue McCullough and I will head up to Estes Park, CO to paint for a week as a lead up to the 2012 Western Light Invitational Fine Art show.  YIPPEE!!  This is a highlight of the summer plein air season and we spend most of the week painting our way around Rocky Mountain National Park!
The '12 Western Light show will open on Friday night August, 24th, 6-9 pm at Earthwood Collections in Estes Park, CO.  If you are in the Denver area, it will be worth a drive up to the mountains and beautiful Estes Park for the evening.
The show will feature the best work of western artists from Colorado, California, Arizona; a perfect hurrah for the end of summer.
These 2 pieces if mine will be part of the group of pieces that I will have in the show.

My piece, "A View Through the Autumn", 48"x 24" won
Best In Show at the 2010 Western Light Show Fine Art Exhibition hosted by Earthwood Gallery in Estes Park. This came as an unexpected but pleasant surprise considering the gathering of great western painters in this show: Margaret Jensen of Estes Park, Maggie Renner Hellmann of California, Dawn Normali of Estes Park, Cindy Carillo of Arizona, Mike Brouse of Colorado, Carole Gray- Weihman of California, Eldon Warren of Colorado, Dee Boyles of Oregon and Lou Renner of California.
Clicking on the artist's name will take you directly to their website.

Western Light 2010

I have been home from Wyoming just long enough to do some laundry, take the dog to the vet, buy school supplies and pack up the truck again.
I am headed to Estes Park for 5 days of painting in Rocky Mountain National Park, home to some of Colorado's most scenic landscapes - can't wait.
. . . AND

On Saturday night August 28th, Earthwood Collections of Estes Park will host the Western Light Show, to highlight, not only my work but work of several other fine painters who will be painting in the area next week.
The show reception is from 5-9 pm, at 141 E. Elkhorn Ave. If you are within 100 miles of Estes Park, it will be a trip worth making. Hope to see you Saturday night.
